Pakistan to Test Fire Missile that Can Hit All Indian Cities

STAFF | World News Connection | February 6, 2004

"This missile has a range of 700-2,700 KM and it can carry 1,100 kg of explosive material."

Islamabad — Pakistan has produced the most powerful missile of the Shaheen series and has named it the Hataf IV Shaheen II. It will be formally test fired in the second week of March. According to competent sources, all the models of the missile produced by Pakistan in the past had a range up to central India and they could target New Delhi and Mumbai, but the ultra modern Hataf IV Shaheen II missile can target all Indian cities. This missile has a range of 700-2,700 KM and it can carry 1,100 kg of explosive material.

According to sources, Hataf I has a range of 50-90 KM, Hataf II 70-200 KM and Hataf III Ghaznavi 50-290 KM, while Shaheen IV can carry 850 kg of material from 150-450 KM. The version II of Shaheen has a range of 200-650 KM, the Shaheen III 400 -900 KM and Hataf V Ghauri from 300-1,300 KM. The Hataf IV Shaheen II has a range of 700-2,700 KM. This is the latest and the most powerful version of the Shaheen missiles and would be test fired next month. All preparations have already been made in this connection.

According to defense experts, although India has manufactured a missile having a range of 5,000-12,000 KM, Pakistan should not be concerned by this because other countries including China and Russia fall within this range. Therefore instead of Pakistan, these countries should be more worried about it.

This website is a tribute to Why War?, one of the nation's first and most innovative post-9/11 student antiwar organizations. Born on October 22, 2001 at Swarthmore College, we were a handful of freshmen and sophmores who vocally opposed the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere. And now, seven years later, we are retiring this website as we focus our efforts on new directions. We hope that it continues to serve future activists and we remain confident that humanity is on the verge birthing a better world.
